    People, including students that begin to study English, generally think semantics and translation are the same. In linguistics they are not the same. To know meaning of a word, someone may translate that word, then he/she must guess its meaning, such as the word table. This word has more than one meaning. One of them is a flat surface that is paired by chairs or sofas. It is the real or based on dictionary meaning. However, this word has another menaing when it is combined by the word contents of a book. Here, its meaning is a list. So translation is only as one of means to support finding meaning. In this little book, the writer wrote and discussed what semantics is, what the aspects and concepts of meaning are, and what are lexical semantics and figurative language. Those are written in four chailers. She hopes it is useful to public, especially for english student.
