Teaching English Speaking Through Role Play Method at SMP Fatahillah Ciledug

Learning to speak English at early age is important to form fluency and language automation in spoken English. And one of the starting point is at junior highschool. The writer teaches spoken English  at SMP Fatahillah Ciledug by using an easy and fun role play method. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive research method which is also supported by direct teaching, observation, evaluation and conclusion. Also as the results of this research are how to apply teaching speaking English through role play method and what are the difficulties of using role play method in teaching student’s speaking skill at SMP Fatahillah Ciledug. The results of this study shows that The steps to apply teaching English speaking through role play method are warming up, delivering theory, practicing role play, and accomplishing homework. Furthermore The difficulties of using role play method are the students are less-confidence and the enthusiasm of student’s to speak English with the difference of student’s understanding of learning English speaking through role play method are the main problems in applying this teaching.
