Abstrak

The Simple Present Tense Analysis in The Jakarta Post Article

The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the simple present tense in the Jakarta Post articles. This research focuses on the frequency of simple present tense in ­the Jakarta Post articles with analyze pattern and structure of simple present tense. Tense is a unit consisting of verbs that explain and emphasize information, which amounts to 16 tenses, the four main points of these tenses are past tense, present tense, future tense, and past future, then accompanied by four kinds of activities including simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous. The simple present is understood as a form that expresses activities that occur even in repetitive activities. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods. The data and theory from online library research are combined to support the analysis. The result of this study found that there are 10 of simple present tense sentences in the Jakarta Post articles. The sentence patterns in the simple present tense are positive. Those are related to the simple present formula. It is used to inform the news as something happened based on the fact. This study is importance to be conducted as practical analysis of grammar in linguistic study.
