The objectives of this research are to show the kinds of struggle in the three song sung by Shawn Mendes and to show how the main characters of the songs struggle to their problem. Descriptive qualitative method is used. They are three songs of Shawn Mendes that discussed in this paper; In My Blood, Treat You Better, and Stitches. The result of the analysis in each data shows that two kinds of struggles In My Blood, internal and external struggle. The main character overcomes his problem by telling himself to never give up, doing some activities for struggling, trying to calm down himself, and asking a help from someone. Treat You Better has external struggle and love struggle. The main character struggles is telling the heroine about the main character’s abusive boyfriend, giving everything she wants, and making a promise to the heroine that he will never let her down. In Stitches has internal and external struggle. The main character struggles for solving the problem by healing his pain, believing himself that he can survive from his wound, and asking a help from someone. The important of this analysis is to show that the meaning of the lyrics and the story behind it represents the struggle of human’s life.
