Abstrak

This study aims to describe: (1) what are the difficulties of writing English descriptive text for students in SMP N 264 (2) what are the advantages and results of teaching using brainstorming. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII G 264 State Junior High School. The objective of this study was learning to write descriptive texts using the brainstorming method. Data collection is an observation method and a test method. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis methods. The results showed that (1) difficulty writing English descriptive text is limited vocabulary, mastery of grammar, and courage to write (2) Brainstorming techniques are useful for improving students' writing skills because brainstorming techniques help students become more active and creative, students also do not waste time in the writing process so that students' writing skills improve significantly. This can be evidenced by the increase in student scores in writing descriptive texts through brainstorming techniques. Thus, it can be said that brainstorming techniques can be used in writing descriptive texts in 8th-grade students of SMP Negeri 264 Cengkareng.
