Idiomatic expressions found in “the intern” movie

Idiomatic expression is an interesting phenomenon in languages. An idiom's meaning cannot be understood from individual word meanings and must be learned as a whole. The purpose of this research is to find out the types of idiomatic expressions used, and the most dominant idiomatic expression in the film The Intern. In her research, the writer applies a qualitative descriptive method. The data sources are taken from the dialogue from The Intern movie. From the data that have been found, it can be seen there five types of idiomatic expressions in The Intern movie such as phrasal verbs, idioms with verbs as keywords, idioms with nouns as keywords, idioms with adjectives as keywords, and idiomatic pairs. Furthermore, the most dominant type of idiomatic expression is phrasal verb and idioms with verbs as keywords.
