The aims of this study are to know the types of figurative language, the most dominant figurative language used in lyrics Coldplay’s Album song entitled A Head Full of Dreams and the contextual meaning of figurative language used in A Head Full of Dreams Album by Coldplay. The research is used descriptive qualitative method which describe the analysis factually, accurately and systematically. Figurative language is a language that uses words or expressions with a meaning that is different from the literal interpretation. The data based on Hutauruk (2019), figurative language is a language that is used imaginatively and not literary because the use of the words diverging from its usual meaning, in this research include the phrases or the sentences which are found in lyric album song entitled A Head Full of Dreams by Coldplay. Based on research finding, there are some figurative languages in A Head Full of Dreams Album by Coldplay. There are nine songs in this album, they are: 1) A Head Full of Dreams, 2) Birds, 3) Hymn for the Weekend, 4) Everglow, 5) Adventure of a Lifetime, 6) Fun, 7) Army of One, 8) Amazing Day and 9) Up & Up. Based on the result of this research, it is found six types of figurative language in A Head Full of Dreams Album by Coldplay, they are hyperbole, metaphor, personification, simile, irony and symbol. The most dominant type of figurative language used is hyperbole in 34 lyrics. So, the contextual meaning of A Head Full of Dreams Album by Coldplay is giving a lot of relationships, memories and social lives.
