A Phrasal Verbs Analysis Used In Songs Lyrics Performed By Vertical Horizon, Rihanna, Anne-Marie, Metallica, and Cradle Of Filth

The objective of this research is to give the reader more understanding about phrasal verbs, the types and the meaning. This research starts from analyzing song lyrics in Vertical Horizon, Rihanna, Anne-Marie, Metallica, and Cradle Of Filth song. The phrasal verbs language usually we encounter in literary works such as poetry, novels, and even literary works more like a song lyrics. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data and theories are collecting through library research and various e-book from internet surfing. In this paper describes the types of phrasal verbs, the meaning of each phrasal verbs and the dominant phrasal verbs of song lyrics found in Vertical Horizon, Rihanna, Anne-Marie, Metallica, and Cradle Of Filth song. Based on the result, this research shows that there are 4 types of phrasal verbs which consist of 9 verbs are using Inseparable types, 6 verbs are using Separable type, 3 verbs are using Transitive type, and 3 verbs are using Intransitive type. The results of this research indicate that: (1) Phrasal verbs language can be used in song lyric. (2) Phrasal verbs can allow us to express thought and feeling those are difficult or impossible to describe literally
