Improving Students’ English Speaking Ability by Using Picture and Flashcard In Communicative Language Teaching Method (A Field Research at SMP Negeri 168 Jakarta)

The objective of this research is to know the effectiveness of teaching English speaking by using picture and flashcard. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 168 Jakarta Timur in academic year 2021. The data were collected through observation, teaching-learning process. This program contains the planning, how to improve students’ English speaking ability by using picture and flashcard through communicative language teaching method. The results of this research indicated that: (1) Teaching English speaking by using picture and flashcard was one of a creative and good solution to improve students’ speaking skill. (2) The using picture and flashcard through communicative language teaching made students more easily in speaking English. And (3) Picture and flashcard made students became more active in responding to English expression or question given by teacher
