The research of the Movie titled ‘Yes Man’ directed by Peyton Reed identifies the psychological aspect of Carl Allen’s personality transformation towards self improvement. This research aims to know the character of Carl Allen shown in the movie, identify the factors that trigger Carl’s life transformation, determine Carl’s survival and resilience in life, and the impact of Carl’s life transformation in his life. The writer Identifies and analyses the id, ego, and superego by using Sigmund Freud’s theory in Psychoanalysis study in order to understand the self through personal characteristics. In addition, in deciding Carl Allen’s personality transformation the writer uses Abraham Maslow’s theory about the hierarchy of needs model. The writer uses descriptive qualitative methods and narrative techniques by adjusting according to literature criticism for the characterization of the main character. Moreover, collecting data methods in the creation of this paper are observation methods and library research. This research shows not only the characterization of the main character but also the factors that trigger the life transformation of the main character, resilience, and survival behaviour, and the impact after life transformation delivered by verbal and actions. Furthermore, this research results in knowing the character and life transformation of Carl Allen from before and after overcoming conflicts in the main character’s mental and social life.
