Improving students speaking skill through the implementation of independent curriculum at smkn 71 jakarta

Abstrak

This study aims to determine how to implement the Merdeka Curriculum in improving the speaking skills of grade 10 Animation students at SMKN 71 Jakarta, find out the difficulties in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, and find out the advantages and disadvantages of using the Merdeka Curriculum in teaching speaking skills. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach method, namely by collecting data and information, interviews, and observations. This research focuses on implementing the Merdeka curriculum. The results of this study are divided into 4 stages, namely teaching preparation, teaching process, and teaching analysis, and teaching evaluation. The teaching process is divided into 3 stages, namely, opening, core activities, and closing. In implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, there are still difficulties faced such as 1) teaching skills, 2) mastery of material, 3) classroom management, and 4) lack of teaching references. The results of this study show a significant increase in students' speaking ability in communicating with English.
