This research purpose to describe the factors that influence the creation of the poem, where the poem contains stanzas which contain extrinsic and emotional elements. The extrinsic elements consist of three parts. First, The Author Background is divided into three parts: Biography, Psychological Condition, and Genre. Second, Extrinsic Community Background which is divided into three parts: The Ideology of a Country, Political Condition and Social Condition of a Country. The last, Extrinsic Value in Stories which is divided into three parts: Social Value, Moral Value and Religious Value. Besides that, it is also focused on the emotion found in the poem. This research used techniques that the data collected was processed through several stages, including research the stanzas of poetry, research the words in poetry lines, research the meaning in poetry, and the message of poetry. The results of this poetry research were told by a minister to the poet about his memories of the woman who lived in the old cottage even though the old woman had died. Her husband has provided considerable service to the country, where her husband is a soldier who is told to fight to get the truth back by liberating slavery in his country, but her husband died during the war, so it creates sorrow for the her because she must lose husband and father of their children. And from the poem, there are many extrinsic elements and emotional found.
