Directed By Michael Gracey

 

 

 

The purpose of the research in this movie are to determine the cause of verbal bullying, how verbal bullying occurs and the effect of verbal bullying in the movie The Greatest Showman, directed by Michael Gracey. This method of research uses a qualitative approach. To analyze the movie the writer watched the movie several times and used the theory of books or online journals. In The movie The Greatest Showman there is a verbal violent scene such as (1) Taunting (2) A   feeling   of resentment (3) Hostility (4) Contempt. The occurrence of verbal bullying caused by several factors such as (1) Social status differences (2) Families who treat very unwell (3) Environment that does not accept a persons differences such as physical state is different from the other. While the effect of bullying against victims is (1) Decreasing confidence (2) Feeling intimidate (3) Feeling isolated (4) Prolonged depression (5) Feeling dissimilar (6) Feeling stress. The results reveal that verbal bullying can bring negative effects to perpetrators and victims of mental bullying is not  only happening  in  the  short  term  but  also  long  term.  Bullying  victims  can experience emotional disturbances, and can even lead to death. Bullying victims are potentially susceptible to mental health disorders, feeling intimidated, and long-term damage to their victims self-esteem.
