ABSTRACT

Henda Yudistira (31170184), Self Determination of The Main Character In The Tolkien Movie Directed by Dome Karukoski

The purpose of this research is to understanding self-determination through Tolkien film, especially the type of self determination and impact of motivation. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The data is collected through films that are watched repeatedly and analyzed by the writer and the writer looks for a theory that is in accordance with the observation process from the opinions of experts, journals, books, and social media, then compared with existing opinions. The author uses the theory of Deci and Ryan, well-known researchers who study self determination and motivation. The author found that the self determination and motivation experienced by Tolkien in the film was developed from the beginning to the end of the story. The result of the research film Self Determination defined as one’s capacity to choose and has several options for determine an action. It can be concluded this research can be concluded that there are Impact of Motivation which mentioned in this research.
