ABSTRACT

Marcell Mahardikha Suardi (31170079), An Analysis of Hyperbole in Rich Brian’s Album Amen

This paper outlines a program for the study of hyperbole as a branch of figurative language. The scope of this paper are to find out forms hyperbole and the meanings found in Rich Brian’s album lyrics. It will be shown the purposes of this paper (1) identifying the form hyperbole used in Rich Brian’s album lyrics, (2) calculating the dominant form hyperbole used in Rich Brian’s album lyrics, and (3) explaining the meanings of the hyperbole in Rich Brian’s album lyrics.  The design of this paper uses descriptive qualitative research. In analyzing data, the writer uses the theory of Claridge about forms hyperbole. The result of the paper finds 40 form of hyperbole. Phrasal hyperbole; 18, Comparison hyperbole; 7, Numerical hyperbole; 6, Clausal hyperbole; 4, Single-word hyperbole; 3, Superlative hyperbole; 1, and the last one is Repetition hyperbole;1.

Makalah ini menguraikan program untuk studi hiperbola sebagai cabang bahasa kiasan. Jangkauan dari makalah ini adalah untuk mengetahui bentuk hiperbola dan makna yang ditemukan dalam lirik album Rich Brian. Ini akan ditampilkan tujuan dari makalah ini (1) mengidentifikasi jenis metafora yang digunakan dalam lirik album Rich Brian, (2) menghitung jenis dominan metafora yang digunakan dalam lirik album Rich Brian, dan (3) menjelaskan makna metafora dalam album lirik Rich Brian. Makalah ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Dalam menganalisis data, penulis menggunakan teori Claridge tentang bentuk-bentuk hiperbola. Hasil dari makalah ini menemukan 40 bentuk hiperbola. Hiperbola phrasal; 18, Perbandingan hiperbola; 7, Numerik hiperbola; 6, Klausul hiperbola; 4, kata tunggal hiperbola; 3, hiperbola superlatif; 1, dan yang terakhir adalah Pengulangan hiperbola; 1.
