ABSTRACT

Atikah Pudjieni (31170161), Metaphors in The Song Lyrics of Niki’s Album

Metaphor is part of figurative language. Metaphor is about comparing one object to another object. This research entitled “Metaphors in The Song Lyric of Niki’s Album” is focus on identifying types of metaphors and the meanings found in Niki’s album of selected lyric. It will be analyzed by theory of Lakoff and Johnson about conceptual metaphor theory. The purposes of this research are (1) identifying the type of metaphor used in Niki’s album lyrics, (2) calculating the dominant types of metaphor used in Niki’s album lyrics, and (3) explaining the meanings of the metaphor in selected lyrics of Niki. The method of the research uses descriptive qualitative method. In analyzing data, the theory of Lakoff and Johnson about conceptual metaphor will be used by the writer. The result of the study shows 77 metaphors found in Niki’s album lyrics, 61 data of ontological metaphors, 9 data for structural metaphors, and 7 data of orientational metaphors. There are 77 lyrics that are selected. The meanings of each lyrics are various.

Metafora adalah bagian dari bahasa kiasan. Metafora adalah tentang membandingkan satu objek dengan objek lain. Penelitian ini berjudul "Metafora dalam Lirik Lagu Album Niki" berfokus pada pengidentifikasian jenis metafora dan makna yang ditemukan dalam album lirik terpilih Niki. Ini akan dianalisis oleh teori Lakoff dan Johnson tentang teori metafora konseptual. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) mengidentifikasi jenis metafora yang digunakan dalam lirik album Niki, (2) menghitung jenis metafora dominan yang digunakan dalam lirik album Niki, dan (3) menjelaskan makna metafora dalam lirik terpilih Niki . Metode penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Dalam menganalisis data, teori Lakoff dan Johnson tentang metafora konseptual akan digunakan oleh penulis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 77 metafora yang ditemukan dalam lirik album Niki, 61 data metafora ontologis, 9 data untuk metafora struktural, dan 7 data metafora orientasi. Ada 77 lirik yang terpilih. Arti setiap lirik berbeda-beda.
