A Sociolinguistic Analysis of Language Variation Used on Social Media

Language variation generally found on a diverse social environment in ethnicity, age, gender, educational background and social status aspect. That language variation can be studied through sociolinguistic since language and people are the primary concern on sociolinguistic study. The aim of this research is to identify and classify the language variation that found on social media users in terms on the speaker. Through a sociolinguistic study of language variation, someone could communicate and behave to a particular community in an appropriate way so that the message could be delivered flawlessly. This research identified and classified four types of language variation in terms of the speaker, they are; idiolect, dialect, temporal dialect and social dialect
