Abstrak

Films often reflect social issues and cultural realities. This study examines the issue of racial discrimination towards Black people in the film Sinners (2025). The film portrays a fictional conflict involving vampires and the Ku Klux Klan, symbolizing deeper issues of racism and oppression. Using a qualitative approach, this research analyzes scenes, dialogues, and character actions to explore how racism is represented in the film. The study applies concepts from critical race theory to show how the film presents discrimination, violence, and resistance. The findings reveal that the film uses horror elements to reflect real-world racial injustice. Black characters are shown as victims of systemic oppression but also as active agents who fight back against white supremacy. This study suggests future researchers explore how horror and fantasy genres can address racial and social issues. It also recommends that English literature programs include more guidance for students in analyzing films with critical social themes.
