This research aims to analyze the use of idioms in selected songs by Chase Atlantic based on the idiom classification proposed by Alisoy (2021) and the functional framework of idioms in song lyrics as explained by Sativa (2020). The study focuses on identifying idiomatic expressions, interpreting their lexical and contextual meanings, and exploring their referential and pragmatic functions within the lyrics. This research applies a descriptive qualitative method, using documentation and listening techniques through close observation of song lyrics. The findings show that idioms in Chase Atlantic’s songs are used not only to enhance the poetic and expressive quality of the lyrics but also to deliver nuanced meanings and emotional resonance. Most idioms function pragmatically to express personal struggles, desires, and emotional depth, while others serve referentially to present vivid imagery or reinforce literal messages. This study highlights how idioms contribute to the stylistic identity of the band and reflect broader social and emotional themes embedded in contemporary musical expression.
