This research investigates the phenomenon of code-switching on X through the hashtag #KaburAjaDulu, which emerged as a digital expression of frustration and social critique among Indonesian youth, particularly Z Generation and Alpha. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, the study analyses 100 bilingual (Indonesian-English) tweets collected from January to March 2025. The tweets are categorized into three types of code-switching based on Stockwell’s theory: Intra-Sentential Switching, Inter-Sentential Switching, and Tag Switching, with Tag Switching appearing most frequently. The findings reveal that code-switching in these tweets serves not only a linguistic function but also an ideological and emotional one, reflecting dissatisfaction with social conditions, political issues, and economic challenges in Indonesia. Moreover, the hashtag #KaburAjaDulu functions as a tool of protest and identity, allowing users to express aspirations for a better future abroad. This study underscores how digital platforms enable youth to creatively engage in sociopolitical discourse, using language mixing as both a communicative and symbolic strategy. The research contributes to sociolinguistic studies on online bilingualism and highlights the role of hashtags in amplifying collective sentiments in the digital age.
