Abstrak

This research aims to analyze the use of slang in the film The Intern (2015) based on the classification of slang types according to Allan & Burridge (2006) and the social dimensions of Janet Holmes (2013). The focus of the research includes identification of slang types, analysis of lexical and contextual meanings, and social functions in conversations between characters. The method used is descriptive qualitative with documentation technique through direct observation of dialog and film script. The results show that the most common types of slang are imitative, clipping, flippant, and fresh and creative. Slang is used in social contexts that show familiar relationships, equal status, and informal situations. From Holmes' perspective, slang in this movie is mostly used in affective functions to show emotional closeness and build solidarity between characters. This finding shows that slang is not only used for communicative purposes, but also reflects social dynamics and cultural identity in daily interactions.
