Abstrak

Code-switching is a linguistic phenomenon that frequently occurs in bilingual workplace communication, particularly in dynamic and multilingual environments such as EduTech startups. This study addresses the lack of research on how bilingual communication practices—especially code-switching—are strategically applied in professional work settings. Although code-switching has been widely studied, there is still limited research that specifically focuses on its use within the professional context of Indonesian startups. This research was conducted at an EduTech startup where the writer participated in the MSIB (Magang Studi Independen Bersertifikat) program. The aim of the study is to identify the types of code switching used in internal meetings and to analyze their function in supporting team communication effectiveness. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collected through participatory observation and documentation over a four-month internship. The results show that the most dominant type of code-switching is intra-sentential switching (18 instances), followed by tag-switching (13 instances), and inter-sentential switching (10 instances).
