Abstrak

The representation of motherhood in film often mirrors broader societal perspectives on gender, sacrifice, and resilience. Nowhere (2023), directed by Albert Pintó, presents a compelling portrayal of maternal strength through the character of Mia, a woman who endures extreme circumstances to protect her newborn child. This study explores how Mia’s struggle is depicted in the film, how her character reflects feminist values, and how motherhood is represented during times of crisis. Employing a qualitative narrative analysis, the research examines key scenes, character development, and thematic elements to uncover deeper meanings within the film. The findings suggest that Mia embodies resilience, agency, and self-sacrifice, challenging traditional gender roles by positioning a woman at the center of survival. Her journey highlights the emotional and physical toll of motherhood, illustrating that maternal love and endurance are forms of powerful, everyday feminist resistance. Nowhere ultimately offers a raw and realistic depiction of a mother’s struggle, emphasizing how the strength and sacrifices of motherhood serve as a profound expression of female empowerment in the face of abandonment and adversity.
