POSITIVE EFFECT OF TEACHING ENGLISH BY USING THE MERDEKA CURRICULUM AT SMPI HIDAYATUL ATHFAL

The 2019 Corona virus pandemic is one of the special conditions that cause
learning loss; therefore, the government issued one of the latest curriculum called
the Merdeka Curriculum to overcome the learning loss that occurs in students.
Because with this learning loss, it will greatly impact student learning and cause it
to be hampered. Based on Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National
Education System, the Curriculum is a set of plans and arrangements regarding the
objectives, content, and teaching materials, as well as the methods used as
guidelines for organizing learning activities to achieve certain goals. The
researcher uses qualitative descriptive research methods, which are carried out by
means of observation and in-depth interviews directly with the parties concerned,
and the data collected are then analyzed descriptively by describing the results of
the research in the form of research reports. The conclusion of the research
conducted by the researcher shows that the existence of a Merdeka Curriculum is
very helpful for the learning process of students, the teaching process for teachers,
and that teachers can get closer to students through non-cognitive diagnostic
assessments, or what is commonly called the psychological condition of students.
