This thesis analyzes Jim's defense mechanisms in the film Passengers. The character analysis in the film Passengers is a thesis prepared to fulfill the requirements for obtaining a bachelor's degree (S1). There are several main issues that will be revealed in this film, namely how problems can occur and how the main character faces these problems; the author uses Sigmund Freud's character theory to analyze defense mechanisms, and employs Perrine's theories of direct and indirect presentation. To analyze the data, the author uses descriptive methods and an intrinsic approach. The findings of this study show that there are several defense mechanisms of the main character found in the film such as Denial, sublimation, reaction formation, and others. The characterization methods found in this film utilize Sigmund Freud's theory, as developed by Anna Freud.
