Figurative language used in the lyrics of olivia rodrigo’s songs

In literary works, figurative language is unavoidable because it flavors the work more beautiful and interesting. Figurative language has many kinds of meaning because the word does not have a single object. There are some categories in figurative language that have been made by some experts. Figurative language is usually used to make a lyric of songs more interesting and unique. The purpose of this study was to identify types of figurative language used in Olivia Rodrigo’s songs, dominant of figurative language found in Olivia Rodrigo’s selected song lyrics, and messages contained in Olivia Rodrigo’s selected songs lyric. In this research, the writer uses descriptive qualitative methods by taking some lyrics that contain figurative language. Based on the research finding, the writer found some figurative language in Olivia Rodrigo’s selected songs lyric. They were repetition, alliteration, personification, metonymy, litotes, synecdoche, simile, and paradox. Repetition is the dominant in the selected song of Olivia Rodrigo.
