Abstrak

The research aims to analyze the sociolinguistic perspective on metaphors as emotional depth and narrative complexity in Taylor Swift's songs. These metaphors vividly depict relationships, feelings, and experiences, making the listener's experience more engaging. Metaphors in Taylor Swift's songs communicate complex emotions and universal themes like love, loneliness, passion, and desire memorably and expressively. The writer uses a descriptive qualitative method to analyze metaphors in Taylor Swift's songs "Blank Space," "All Too Well," "Wildest Dreams," and "Love Story." The method highlights the intricate relationship between language, emotion, and music, showing that studying metaphors in music helps us understand how artists like Taylor Swift connect with their audience. Library research also provides relevant theories and information. In total, 60 metaphors were identified in the four songs, categorized into four types: Anthropomorphic Metaphors, Animal Metaphors, Concrete to Abstract Metaphors, and Synesthetic Metaphors. Sociolinguistics tracks how language evolves over time and investigates how it's used in social interactions. Key areas include Variationist Sociolinguistics, Language and Gender, Bilingualism, Code Switching, and Language and Politeness. Research focuses on societal attitudes toward language diversity, revealing insights into communication patterns within different social settings.
