This research aims to analyze the elements of sadism towards culture or tradition in the short story lottery in a portrait of sadism towards the story using a structural approach with aspects of intrinsic constituent elements to examine the representation of cultural entities in short stories set in the sadism. The structural approach emphasizes aspects that are building blocks of literary works (intrinsic). The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. The activities carried out are analyzing, interpreting and assessing what types of sadism are found in short stories. The results of the analysis of the short story "Lottery" are about the lottery tradition which always holds a draw to choose one name from all of them, then the winner is the one who will be sacrificed.
