- FARIDA ERNI
- 2024
This research aims to investigate the types of psychological conflicts faced by the main character, namely
Theodore Finch. This carried out by a qualitative descriptive method and using theories from Sigmund Freud,
The researcher uses two data sources, the primary data from this study is the images or scenes selected in the
film All the Bright Places (2020), while the secondary data in this research is in the form of data from several
literature such as journals, books, as well as websites related to research. The data collection technique in this
study is to make observations by looking at and observing every sign contained in the film, a series of scenes to
be able to understand the meaning contained in the film. The results of the research and analysis conducted by
the researcher showed that Finch had bipolar II disorder because he had a hypomanic phase, he described his
depressive episodes as "sleep", and his manic episodes as "awake", Finch did not get much sleep and did not
seem to need it, people considered Finch dangerous as many people thought everyone was bipolar, Finch
exhibited erratic and aggressive behaviors that are common in people with bipolar disorder. It can be concluded
that the bipolar disorder experienced by Finch began from the accumulation of problems that he hid since
childhood where he often experienced physical violence from his father, then he experienced neglect from his
parents so that he felt empty and did not get a safe place.https://repository.bsi.ac.id/repo/53500/Analyzing-Bipolar-Disorder-Through-Theodore-Finch-in-All-the-Bright-Places
