Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Dissociative Identity Disorder In Marrowbone Movie Directed By Sergio G. Sanchez Through Psychoanalysis Perspective

The movie Marrowbone, directed by Sergio G. Sánchez, shows a deep story about a young man named Jack and his psychology struggle after experience violence in his environment. This thesis uses a qualitative descriptive method by analyzing key scenes in the movie to identify PTSD and DID features, while exploring the root causes and their impact on Jack's mental condition. This study applies the DSM-V theory to examine Jack's PTSD symptoms, Rosenberg & Kosslyn's (2010) theory to understand the causes of Jack's PTSD, and Licthenberg's (1992) and Sachs & Galton's (2011) theories to analyze the causes and effects of Jack's DID. The results indicate that: (1) The disorders experienced by Jack are a direct result of his traumatic experiences from childhood, compounded by psychological and social environmental factors. (2) The observed symptoms include persistent intrusion, avoidance behavior, emotional changes, hypervigilance, feelings of alienation from oneself or the environment, memory loss, and the appearance of alternative identities as a form of self-protection. (3) Freud's theory provides insight into Jack's conflict between his id, ego, and superego, reflecting his efforts to balance innate anxiety, protective responsibilities, and moral obligations, which ultimately led into the collapse of the ego and withdrawal into dissociative defense mechanisms.
